It might not have this Damien Hirst painting from 2008, but if you live in Germany your local “Artothek” (art library) could be the solution to all your art cravings:
I came across one in my hometown of Dortmund, where the artwork is hung all over the main library and beautifully interacts with the modern structure of the building designed by Mario Botta.
The concept is intriguingly simple: You borrow an art work (painting or little sculpture), mostly from local artists, for 3 months, paying a little fee of max. 5 euros for insurance and take it home, enjoying it in the privacy of your own place, at your own pace and whenever you want.
After three months, you will have to part with what might have become a beloved fixture of your interiors, but you also have the chance to discover a new piece in depth – three months at a time.
